About The Event
Amanda Nunes will be defending her women’s bantamweight title at UFC 224 after all.
UFC announced that Nunes will face Raquel Pennington at UFC 224 on May 12 at Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil this Thursday afternoon.
UFC officials including president Dana White speculated this past weekend that Cris Cyborg could potentially be facing Nunes in a superfight and scrapping the original pairing with Pennington.
Nunes last fought this past December at UFC 215 where she defended her title with a close split decision over Valentina Shevchenko.
Pennington has been inactive this past year, with her last outing being an unanimous decision victory over former champion Miesha Tate at UFC 205. Pennington is currently on a four-fight winning streak.
